The arrested owner of Tamil Nadu-based ‘Sresan Pharmaceuticals’, which manufactured the adulterated Coldrif medicine, was brought from Chennai to Parasia in the Chhindwara district of Madhya Pradesh on Friday by the Madhya Pradesh Police Special Investigation Team (SIT).

The SIT would produce the company owner, Ranganathan Govindan, in the court at Parasia.

Advocates at Parasia have declared that they would neither represent nor defend Govindan in the court, nor allow any other lawyer from outside to do so.

Parasia Advocates Association President Shyam Kumar Sahu said no lawyer would represent Govindan in court.
A large number of people also gathered outside the court premises, prompting police to beef up the already tight security there.

The absconding Govindan, carrying a reward of Rs 20,000, was arrested in Chennai at around 1.30 AM on Thursday. He is accused of manufacturing the highly toxic cough syrup ‘Coldrif’, suspected to have caused kidney failures and consequent deaths of at least 25 kids in MP and three in Rajasthan.

Govindan was brought from Chennai to Nagpur by flight on Friday morning. From there, he was brought to Parasia by road.

His medical check-up was carried out, and then he was kept in the Parasia police station.
