The Uttar Pradesh Panchayati Raj Department is consistently taking concrete steps to digitally empower Gram Panchayats in the state, and, in the process, a significant digital initiative has been implemented at the ground level with the launch of Aadhaar services at the village level.

Aadhaar services were successfully launched in Bhatganwan Pandey Gram Panchayat of Sarojininagar block and Sairpur Gram Panchayat of Chinhat block in Lucknow on Wednesday.

More than 40 rural citizens have already been provided Aadhaar-related services in these two Gram Panchayats, bringing relief to villagers and saving them from travelling to cities.

This initiative is a historic step towards the easy, transparent, and accessible availability of citizen services at the panchayat level.

According to the department’s plan, Aadhaar services will be launched in 1,000 Gram Panchayats of the state in the first phase, after which it will be extended to all 57,694 Gram Panchayats of the state in a phased manner.

For the effective implementation of this ambitious scheme, the Panchayati Raj Department is conducting a comprehensive training programme for Panchayat Assistants. So far, more than 800 Panchayat Assistants have been given initial training, while the training of the remaining Panchayat Assistants is in progress.

On this occasion, state Panchayati Raj Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar said, “The launch of Aadhaar services at the village level is a major step towards making the lives of villagers easier. This initiative will not only save time and resources but will also make the Panchayats self-reliant and capable.”

Meanwhile, the Director of the Panchayati Raj Department, Amit Kumar Singh, said, “The Panchayati Raj Department is committed to digitally empowering Gram Panchayats. This launch of Aadhaar services will prove to be a milestone in developing panchayats as citizen service centres. In the coming times, its benefits will reach every village in the state.”

This initiative of Aadhaar services at the Gram Panchayat level is being considered a successful and inspiring step towards realising the vision of Digital India and empowered panchayats.
