Setting a new benchmark for what it means to be a ‘super cool’ mentor, IIT Ropar’s Director Prof Rajeev Ahuja has won the hearts of millions after his video during the convocation went viral on social media.

The video, which was shot during the institute’s convocation ceremony held recently, has garnered over 20 million views within a day of being uploaded. The video, shared by IIT Ropar Diaries handle on Instagram shows a light-hearted moment between a B.Tech student and the director.

After getting the degree, the student is seen asking Ahuja’s permission to wear black sunglasses for the quick photo session, which the director grants immediately with a nod. Seconds later, the students turn to the director and say “Sir aapke liye bhi hai (Sir, I have a pair for you as well),” to which the director cheekily responds by saying “Laao (Give me)”.

Amidst the loud cheering from the outgoing students, Ahuja is seen removing his specs wearing the black shades before posing with the student. In another clip shared by the page, the Director is seen accepting the requests made by degree holders to pose in quirky poses with them for the pictures.

“When your Professor says yes to black shades at convocation… and rocks them too while awarding degrees! Iconic moments only at IIT Ropar,” the caption of the video read.

The post invited varied reactions from the users with many dubbing the IIT Ropar director as “Pookie Professor”.

“The combination of coolest professor and student,” said one user as another wrote, “I actually liked that he asked his professor before doing something he wanted to instead of making it a scene.”

“Ahhh pookie prof spotted, aura!” read a comment. “This teacher passed the vibe check,” wrote another user.
