CRPF Director General (DG) GP Singh on Wednesday, April 29, said that 500 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) will continue to remain deployed across West Bengal after the completion of polling.
“As mentioned earlier, 500 companies of CAPF would stay in West Bengal, after the polling, till further orders,” he wrote on X.
Out of the 500 companies, 200 belong to Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), 150 to Border Security Force (BSF), 50 to Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), 50 to Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and 50 to Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).
As mentioned earlier, 500 companies of CAPF would stay in West Bengal, after the polling, till further orders.

According to PTI, an Election Commission official on April 29 said that the continued presence of the central forces in the state is aimed at maintaining peace and ensuring that no untoward incidents take place during the post-poll period.
“The forces will be stationed in sensitive areas and will assist the state administration in maintaining normalcy,” the official added.
On Monday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the central forces would stay in West Bengal for 60 days after the completion of 2026 Assembly elections.
As per officials, further decisions regarding the duration and scale of deployment would be taken based on ground assessments and inputs from security agencies.
Polling for the second phase of 2026 Assembly elections in West Bengal, covering 142 seats, was held on April 29, while voting for 152 seats in the first phase was held on April 23. The votes across all 294 Assembly seats in the state will be counted on May 4.
