Four terrorists and a youth were killed in two separate encounters and simultaneous clashes with security forces in Kashmir on Friday.

Three terrorists were killed in an encounter at Chatapura in the Pulwama district of South Kashmir, while another was gunned down in Trehgam in Kupwara.

A civilian identified as Faizan Ahmad Khan was killed as stone-pelters clashed with security forces to enable the three holed-up terrorists to escape from there. About a dozen stone-pelters were also injured.

Two houses were damaged during the encounter.

Mobs of youth from nearby villages reached the encounter site and clashed with security forces.

In another incident, three soldiers of the Army were injured when terrorists tossed grenades and fired at the jawans who were opening the Army Goodwill Public School in the morning at Shopian in South Kashmir.

A police officer said that condition of the injured jawans was stable.

Security forces have cordoned the area and launched a search for terrorists.

In another encounter, a Pakistani terrorist was killed at Trehgam in the Kupwara district of North Kashmir.

The security forces spotted the terrorist in the forest area where the encounter broke out. The identity of the heavily armed terrorist was being established.
