As many as 34 pilots belonging to four private airlines were suspended on Tuesday and also questioned by the police following a complaint by aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s (DGCA) that they had put up objectionable posts on a WhatsApp group against some of its officers.

The pilots are from Jet Airways, Spicejet, GoAir and Indigo.

The DGCA has reportedly also submitted screenshots of the WhatsApp conversations in which the pilots allegedly used bad language while attacking the regulator over the de-rostering of some of their colleagues.

The chats were allegedly leaked to the director and a complaint was lodged. The pilots were asked to come to Delhi for the questioning.

Earlier, there was also a controversy when the DGCA's Joint Director General reportedly took offence to not being addressed with the right designation in a letter.
