Thunderstorm accompanied by lightning once again created havoc in parts of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand, killing over 30 people on Monday.
According to a senior government official, nine people were killed and six others injured in incidents of thunderstorm and lightning in some parts of the state.
At least five people died and four others were left injured as lightning struck some parts of Unnao district in UP late Monday night, Principal Secretary, Information, Avinish Awasthi said.

Media reports suggest that two people each were killed in thunderstorm in Kanpur and Rae Bareli.
Awasthi said respective district magistrates had been directed to undertake rescue work and ensure distribution of relief in 24 hours.
In Bihar, 18 people were killed, while 13 people were reported to be died in Jharkhand.

Thunderstorm and lightning struck parts of Bihar, killing four people in Gaya, three in Munger, five in Aurangabad, two in Nawada and three in Katihar region.
Several people were left injured in both Bihar and Jharkhand.
The rain and storm also affected power and water supply in the region.
The IMD has predicted thunderstorm accompanied with squall and hailstone for Tuesday also in UP’s Hardoi, Sitapur, Farrukhabad districts and adjoining areas.
Meanwhile, according to the Met department, monsoon has already hit Kerala — three days before the scheduled time.
Skymet Weather has also predicted that thunderstorm accompanied with gusty winds and lightning are likely to hit places like Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Tuesday.
