Three people in a pickup van were crushed to death after a tile-laden truck overturned on the van in the Ratlam district of Madhya Pradesh.

According to the police, the fatal mishap occurred on the Ratlam-Jhabua road at around 10.45 pm on Monday.

The truck was coming towards Ratlam from Jhabua. When it was climbing up the Koyla Valley slope, a possible technical fault occurred, and the truck’s gear probably slipped.

That resulted in the truck driver losing control of the heavy vehicle, and the truck came back, reversing freely at a high speed due to the slope.

The ill-fated pickup van was behind the truck, which overturned onto the van. Both vehicles fell into a roadside ditch, with the van and its three occupants coming right under the full load of the truck.

All three men in the van were crushed to death, and the van was also mangled.

According to Bilpank police station in-charge Ayub Khan, the deceased were identified as Abdul Hamid (50) of Jhabua and Riaz Ahmad (48) and Zafar Shakur (52), both from Ratlam.
