A road accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Chandauli district claimed the lives of three members of a family, including a woman, her daughter-in-law, and her young grandson, early Tuesday. The family was walking to the riverbank for Chhath Puja rituals when a speeding truck ran over them.
The impact of the collision was so severe that all three died on the spot. The victims were identified as Kumari Devi (45), Chandni Devi (30), and Saurabh Kumar (7), residents of Rewsa-Panchfedwa village.
In the aftermath of the tragedy, a relative was seen holding the bodies of his nephew and other family members, weeping inconsolably. The heart-wrenching scene drew villagers to the site, leading to chaos and outrage on the road.
Upon receiving information, Circle Officer (CO) Krishan Murari Sharma arrived at the scene with police personnel and managed to calm the agitated crowd. Authorities confirmed that the truck driver fled the scene immediately after the accident, leaving the vehicle behind. Police have launched a search operation to track down the driver.
The fatal accident took place on NH-19 near Panchfedwa village in the Alinagar police station area.
