26 PTIs terminated in Rajasthan for getting jobs based on “fake degrees”

Rajasthan State Secondary Education Department

The Rajasthan State Secondary Education Department has terminated the services of 26 physical education teachers (PTIs) of various government-run schools in Banswara and the Dungarpur districts for getting the job on the basis of ‘fake degree’.

While the termination orders of 18 PTIs serving in different schools in the Banswara district were issued on Tuesday, eight more PTIs serving in the adjoining Dungarpur district were terminated on Wednesday, an official spokesman said.

The busting of a fake degree scam around June-July last year led to filing of FIRs by the Special Operation Group (SoG) in cases of 61 suspected PTIs on the recommendation of a high-powered three-member committee constituted on the order of the Rajasthan High Court.

The tainted candidates were selected for the service, after clearing the PTI Direct Recruitment Exam-2022. However, they appeared for the exam on the basis of a fake degreed that they had claimed to have been issued by a Shikohabad based university.

The investigations in some other such suspicious cases were still on, spokesman said.
