The government of Rajasthan has sanctioned a Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence (RGSAE) to 245 students on merit to study abroad. These students belong to small cities of Banswara, Sirohi, Karauli, Jalore and others districts.

In a joint online interaction with the students, Dhiraj Srivastava, commissioner, Rajasthan Foundation (RF) said under RGSAE Yojana, the students aspiring to pursue their higher education in foreign universities will get monetary assistance. Deserving students have also been given Rs. 50 lakh in a few cases and about Rs 46 crore were sanctioned to the students by the Rajasthan government to provide financial assistance to them since the launch of the Yojana in 2021.

All the students going to pursue undergraduate level, Master’s level, Ph D and post-doctoral research programs from a university abroad can apply to get  the benefits of this scheme.

Srivastav assured the students that while they will be studying in foreign countries, they should not feel alone as RF has a remarkable network of NRR- Mitras (non-Rajasthani residents) who are always willing to help and support the Rajasthanis moving abroad. An instance of which was evident during the evacuation of students from Ukraine where the NRR-Mitras played a crucial role in getting Pravasi safely back to India, the chairman claimed.

The interactive session was attended by Rajasthan Chief Secretary Usha Sharma, Bhawani Singh Detha, Principal Secretary, Higher Education, students along with their parents, NRR Mitras and other government officials.
