13 die as bus plunges into river in Maharashtra’s Kolhapur

In a tragic accident, at least 13 people died after a bus they were travelling in lost control and plunged into a river in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, police said.

According to initial reports, the incident took place late Friday night when the mini bus, plying from the coastal city of Ratnagiri to Kolhapur fell into the Panchganga river after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The bus was carrying a total of 16 passengers and most of them hailed from Pune, reports said.

Rescue operation is underway to find the remaining survivors while the injured have been rushed to a local hospital, authorities said.
