Four accused who have been arrested in connection with the seizure of 50 kg heroin worth over Rs 100 crore from a residential flat in Delhi's Shaheen Bagh area on April 27, have been sent to seven-day police remand.
Under a joint operation conducted by Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), one importer was arrested and 205.6 kg of heroin worth Rs 1439 crores was seized from Kandla Port in Gujarat.
Punjab health and family welfare minister Dr Vijay Singla, on Thursday, asked the managements of all the drug de-addiction centers to strictly curb the misuse of drugs available in these centers, failing which invite revocation of the licenses of centers and penal action will be taken against the managing staff.
The Customs Department said it has arrested one Ugandan national who was trying to smuggle in drugs by swallowing them.
CCB Joint Commissioner Sandeep Patil said, "As many as 7 foreign nationals are found to be overstaying and two were found with Ganja. At least 90 ecstasy tablets were seized from a Nigerian national. So far, 38 people were found without valid documents."
