It was decided that no further measures were needed to control the Covid-19 situation in the national capital, but the government will keep a strict vigil on coronavirus-related developments, according to official sources.
The permission allowed has a rider that there must be strict compliance of Covid-19 safety guidelines.
In an order issued on Wednesday, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) asked all the District Magistrates and the DCPs to ensure that no such event and gathering takes place in the areas under their jurisdiction.
Delhi, which has so far identified 22 cases of Omicron, is the second worst-hit state after Maharashtra, where 40 persons have so far been found to be infected by the new variant of Covid-19.
Markets were allowed to reopen on June 7. However, repeated incidents of Covid protocol violations have led to the temporary closing down of several markets across the city, including those in Laxmi Nagar, Lajpat Nagar, Janpath, Kamla Nagar and Sarojini Nagar.
