Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.76% with 1,280 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 4,24,96,369.
With this, the country's active caseload also fell below 20,000-mark and currently stands at 14,704, with active case standing at 0.03 per cent.
The active number of cases now stands at 444 and a cumulative positive case stands at 1864639.
As per the official state Covid bulletin, the new cases were reported in Lucknow (5), Gautam Buddha Nagar (4), Ghaziabad (3), Mathura (2) and one each in Saharanpur, Kanpur Nagar, Gonda, Bulandshahr and Kaushambhi.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), the country witnessed as many as 306 COVID-related deaths in the last 24 hours.
Addressing a press conference to brief on Omicron emergence in India, Joint Secretary in the Union Health Ministry, Lav Agarwal, said these 25 cases have been detected in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Karnataka and Delhi, and all the patients have mild symptoms.
The recovery of 8,251 patients in the last 24 hours has increased the cumulative tally to 3,40,97,388.
