Mesmerising Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti festival

As a part of the cultural observance to showcase the rich culture and tradition of the various districts in the state, ‘Mesmerising Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti’ was launched in Shimla on Tuesday.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Kaul Singh Thakur, who is also Revenue and Law Minister inaugurated the festival.

The festival is being organised by the Language Art and Culture department in which, besides the rich cultural heritage of Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti district, the local handicrafts, wood art and other arts are also being presented through exhibition and cultural programme.

Speaking on the occasion Kaul Singh Thakur said, “The state government was ensuring uniform development of all the areas of the state. Quality drinking water, health services, roads and other facilities are being provided in these areas.”

The cultural heritage of Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti district is very rich, he said, adding that Kullu district is blessed with the natural beauty which is world famous and are known for its rich and unique ‘Dev culture’ and ‘Folk culture’.

People here have unwavering belief and devotion towards the Goddesses, he added.

The cultural heritage of the district Lahaul-Spiti is also very rich, the people of this tribal area have carved a niche for themselves in the state and country through various activities and hard work said Thakur.

The social concerns are very imperative in the district of Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti, the hospitality and lifestyle are excellent here, he said.

He hoped that through this festival, besides, the local people the tourists will also have the opportunity to know and understand the rich culture, language and other arts of Kullu and Lahaul-Spiti districts.

Appreciating the Language Art and Culture department and all other related departments for this event, he said that organising such programmes would surely strengthen the conservation and promotion of the art and culture of the state.

A cultural programme was also presented at the Gaiety Theatre.

Gularia, senior officials and dignitaries of Trilok Suryavanshi and various other departments were also present.
