HP, Chinese varsity tie up for Yoga, Tai Chi exchange

Himachal Pradesh based Shoolini University on Saturday signed up a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Chinese university for knowledge exchange on ancient practices of Yoga and Tai Chi.

The varsity has signed an MoU with China’s reputed varsity, Yunnan Minzu University under an exchange-programme at New Delhi on Saturday and the programme would commence from International Yoga Day on June 21 this year.

A spokesperson of varsity said with an aim to spread India’s traditional knowledge worldwide and introduce the ancient Chinese practice of Tai Chi, a five member team would visit the varsity. Under this exchange programme, the students from the Chinese varsity will be studying Yoga at Shoolini for one semester.

In addition, academic information and research material will also be shared between the two universities and there shall also be joint conferences and research programmes on these topics.
Shoolini University is the first university in north India to offer a unique job-oriented programme in Yoga that is already in huge demand in the country. The university has also recently been accorded sanction by the central government to set up a 100-bed hospital.

This hospital is being created to impart knowledge and practices of Yoga Sciences and meditation with the aid of naturopathic medications for health and wellbeing.
The facility is inclusive of Yoga centre, bath centre, massage laboratory, diet centre, exercise or acupuncture centre, pathology, meditation hall and herbal garden.
