A sublime solace

The large, muddy village puddles experience extraordinary occurrences in the monsoon every year. Little fairies and angels eagerly place their paper boats in these puddles.

The boats start floating by, guided gently by the wind and the gentle flow of the monsoon water…The tiny ones’ high pitched laughter, joy and smiles-are all reflected in the puddles.

What a sublime solace it is to see the children having fun in the rain! Every year when monsoon arrives for her stay at Mother Nature’s village bungalow, she equips nature with a whole new make-up box.

The box is filled with dark clouds, thunder, downpours, and the wet whiff of mud, and fresh green blush is applied beautifully all over the trees. The welcoming villagers extend their hands to embrace monsoon and gladly let it decorate their lives.

Who could say no to such a welcome? The heavy thunder, the grey sky, stagnant water, damaged mud-lanes, and greenery everywhere all are the perfect representation of monsoon.

One that we can imagine all too easily, with our eyes closed sitting in our cement houses in cities. We can all hear the melodious symphony between the sound of rain drops, the croaking of happy frogs and the screams of the peacocks if we pay even a little attention to nature. Even the blazing thunder can be a source of music; we only need to be able to sense it.

The music of nature is further enhanced when an artist sings or plays any of the Raagas of rain like the Megh or Malhar.
