The award-winning Tamil filmmaker Vijay of Madaraspattinam and Thalaiva-fame will be directing a biopic on former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu late J Jayalalithaa.
Trade analyst and film critic Taran Adarsh confirmed the news on social media, where he tweeted saying that Tamil filmmaker Vijay will direct the biopic and is overseeing the pre-production of the film, based on the vision shared by producers Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Brinda Prasad, the film will star prominent names from Bollywood and the South.

The film will be produced by Hyderabad based Vibri Media and will be released in three languages: Tamil, Telegu and Hindi.
The first look of the film will be out on Jayalalitha’s birth anniversary, 24 February 2019.

The six-term Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, an AIADMK leader and an actress, Jayalalithaa passed away on December 5, 2016 due to a cardiac arrest. Over the period of 1961 to 1980 in the film fraternity, she had various successful films such as Major Chandrakanth (1966) and Arasa Kattlai (1967). Her supporters were quite fond of her and she had been given titles of a ‘revolutionary leader’ and a ‘golden maiden’.
