Veteran actor-director Rakesh Roshan diagnosed with early-stage cancer

Veteran actor and director Rakesh Roshan has been diagnosed with early stage of squamous cell carcinoma, a type of throat cancer. Son Hrithik Roshan shared the news on social media on Tuesday morning. Rakesh Roshan is set to undergo a surgery.

The director is however in high spirits and continues to follow his daily fitness routine. Hrithik shared a photograph with his dad and posted: “Asked my dad for a picture this morning. Knew he wouldnt miss gym on surgery day. He is probably the strongest man I know. Got diagnosed with early-stage squamous cell carcinoma of the throat a few weeks ago, but he is in full spirits today as he proceeds to battle it. As a family we are fortunate and blessed to have a leader like him.”

The family has a cancer survivor in Sunaina Roshan, Hrithik’s sister. She fought cervical cancer and kicked it off. Sunaina had penned a blog where she wrote how Hrithik supported her during her treatment.

Rakesh Roshan started his career as an actor with 1970 film Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani followed by films like Khoobsurat, Bhagwan Dada among others. In the direction field, he made his debut with 1987 film Khudgarz.

He launched his son Hrithik Roshan in 2000 film Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai and his upcoming project is Krrish 4, again with Hrithik Roshan.
