Sridevi’s body to reach Mumbai tonight, last rites to take place tomorrow

Bollywood actor Sridevi’s body is likely to reach India tonight at 10:30 pm and the funeral procession will take place at 02:00 pm tomorrow (February 28) followed by last rites of the actor at 03:30 pm in Mumbai.

Sridevi, who passed away on February 24, was found motionless in her bathroom by her husband Boney Kapoor after accidentally drowning in the bathtub, following the loss of consciousness.

Earlier, the Dubai Police in the afternoon had given its final nod for the release of Sridevi’s mortal remains. The Indian embassy in Dubai said that the authorities had issued letters for the release of the mortal remains of the legendary actress to the Consulate and the family members.

It is expected that Sridevi’s mortal remains will be flown in a chartered flight to Mumbai after the embalming process, and will reach Mumbai by 10:30 pm.

According to reports, Sridevi’s husband Boney Kapoor, who was in Dubai when the actress died, recorded his statement with the police on Sunday. The Dubai Police, after being 100 per cent sure about the cause of death, had finally released Sridevi’s mortal remains, which will be flown back to Mumbai.

The body will remain for public viewing tomorrow from 09:30 am onwards, while the last rites are scheduled tentatively from 03:30 pm onwards.

Sridevi was 54 years old during the time of her demise. She was in Dubai for her nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding with her husband Boney and daughter Khushi Kapoor.
