Tamil cinema fans are buzzing with excitement over reports that superstar legends Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan could soon share the screen once again. If true, this reunion would mark over four decades since the two icons last starred together.
The rumors suggest that both actors will play ageing gangsters in a high-octane action drama directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who has recently made waves with his blockbuster ‘Coolie’.
While details about the plot and supporting cast are still under wraps, the project is likely to be a production of Kamal Haasan’s own Raaj Kamal Films International. The production house has a strong track record, having backed hits like ‘Vikram’, ‘Amaran’, and ‘Thug Life’.

Fans of Tamil cinema may recall that Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan first appeared together in K. Balachandar’s ‘Apoorva Raagangal’ in 1975, with Rajinikanth playing the antagonist. Since then, they collaborated on several memorable films including ‘Moondru Mudichu’, ‘Avargal’, ’16 Vayathinile’, and ‘Ninaithaale Inikkum’.
The last time the duo appeared together on screen was in ‘Alauddinum Albhutha Vilakkum’ in 1979. Since then, both Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan have carved out highly successful, independent careers, establishing themselves as titans of Indian cinema.
While neither actor nor the production team has officially confirmed the project, the speculation alone has sparked widespread excitement.
