India’s favourite stars Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna gave fans a reason to cheer in New York as they led the 43rd India Day Parade.

The event, known as the biggest Independence Day celebration outside India, turned extra special with the two being honoured as Grand Marshals.

Videos from the parade quickly went viral, showing both actors waving, greeting people, and even braving the summer heat with smiles. At one point, fans noticed the two briefly holding hands during the celebrations.

Before the big day, Vijay Deverakonda had already shared his excitement online. He posted a video of the Empire State Building glowing in saffron, white, and green.

“Absolute honour! Indian tricolours bathe the iconic Empire State Building. Got to light it up on our Independence Day and also experience the beautiful hospitality of Team Empire State and the building’s stunning views and stories,” he wrote on Instagram.

While their appearance at the parade made headlines, both Vijay and Rashmika are equally busy with work back home. Vijay has lined up some big projects. He is teaming up with Mythri Movie Makers for a film tentatively titled VD14. Another movie with Sri Venkateswara Creations is also on the cards, referred to for now as SVC 59.

Rashmika, on the other hand, is diving into a mix of genres with her upcoming films. One of her most talked-about projects is Mysaa, described as an emotional action thriller. In the film, she reportedly plays a character from the Gond community. The movie is directed by Rawindra Pulle and produced by Ajay and Anil Sayyapureddy.

She is also working on director Rahul Ravindran’s much-awaited entertainer The Girlfriend, alongside actor Dheekshith Shetty. Rashmika has spoken openly about how much this project means to her. On the director’s birthday, she penned a heartfelt note saying, “You are too precious my friend. I still can’t believe you’ve made a film like ‘The Girlfriend’… The emotional depth you have, the niceness that you have in your heart flows through every frame.” She went on to call him not just a director, but also “a friend, a mentor, a partner in crime for a lifetime.”

For now, though, their New York appearance has given fans plenty to talk about.
