Upasana Kamineni Konidela, wife of South superstar Ram Charan and a successful entrepreneur in her own right, has once again set social media abuzz. The topic? Women choosing to “freeze their eggs” to focus on their careers.
The entrepreneur, known for her frank and empowering statements, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the conversations swirling around her comments.
“I’m happy to have sparked a healthy debate & thank you for your respectful responses,” she wrote, emphasizing that her intention was to encourage open discussion. Upasana has used her platform to challenge societal norms asking important questions that many shy away from. “Is it wrong for a woman to marry for love instead of giving in to societal pressure? Is it wrong for her to wait until she finds the right partner?” she asked in one of her posts.
She didn’t stop there, going on to question whether it is wrong for women to plan the timing of their children according to their personal circumstances or to focus on career goals before family planning.

In a post, she shared her own journey as an example. “I married for love and companionship at 27, a choice I made on my own terms,” she revealed. “At 29, I decided to freeze my eggs for personal and health reasons. I’ve always spoken about it openly to encourage other women to explore their options.” Upasana clarified that her first child arrived when she was 36 and she is now expecting twins at 39.
She made it clear that for her, career and marriage are not opposing forces. “Throughout my journey, I have given equal importance to building my career and nurturing my marriage, because a happy, stable environment matters deeply when raising a family,” she wrote. “For me, marriage and career are equally meaningful parts of a fulfilled life. But I decide the timeline! That’s not privilege; it’s my right!”
Upasana’s comments come after she spoke at an event in Hyderabad about the benefits of egg freezing for women who want to focus on their professional lives first. In a video shared on her X account, she said, “The biggest insurance for women is to freeze their eggs. Because then you can choose when to get married and when you want to have kids, on your own terms, when you are financially independent.”
The public interest in Upasana’s life has only grown with the milestones she shares. She and Ram Charan tied the knot in 2012, and after several years of building their respective careers, welcomed their daughter in 2023 when Upasana was 34. This year, during Diwali celebrations, the couple announced on social media that they are expecting twins.
