Just when fans were counting days to watch Vijay’s supposed last film on the big screen, a shocking twist hit like thunder. The much-awaited political thriller ‘Jana Nayagan’ got leaked online even before its theatrical release. The news spread across fan circles in minutes. And now, the drama has moved from cinema screens to cyber crime desks.
Six arrests and a serious warning
The makers wasted no time. The legal team representing KVN Productions quickly stepped in, and their counsel Vijayan Subhramanium shared a major update.

According to him, the Cyber Crime Department has already arrested six people linked to the illegal circulation of leaked scenes from the film.

He said anyone downloading, forwarding, sharing, or even storing the leaked clips will be traced. He warned that strict criminal action will follow without exception.
The statement also made it clear that social media is not a safe place to share such content. Authorities are monitoring platforms and digital trails carefully.
This update comes days after the production house issued a public legal notice.
Legal notice highlights massive investment
The legal notice revealed that the film is not just another project. It mentioned that the movie, starring Vijay and directed by H Vinoth, with music by Anirudh Ravichander, has been made with an investment of several hundred crores.
Because of this huge budget, the film carries enormous value across theatrical, satellite, OTT, and commercial platforms.
The notice explained that certain scenes were illegally accessed, copied, circulated. These clips were then forwarded to third parties. The makers called the situation urgent and alarming.
They stressed that piracy at this stage could cause huge financial damage and impact the film’s release plans.
Sharing clips can land you in trouble
The warning didn’t stop at just the culprits. The production house clearly stated that even ordinary users could face consequences. The notice mentioned platforms like WhatsApp, Telegram, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube, websites, torrents, and any other digital medium.
It stated that downloading, forwarding, uploading, reposting, storing, or circulating the leaked scenes is a serious criminal offence and copyright violation. Each person involved will be individually liable.
The makers also confirmed that legal action has already begun against the person who first downloaded and circulated the scenes, and further proceedings are being pursued against others.
Industry stands with Vijay and film team
The leak has rattled the Tamil film industry, especially because the movie is reportedly Vijay’s final film before he steps into politics. Many big names from the industry came forward to support him and condemn piracy.
Among those backing the star were Chiranjeevi, Sivakarthikeyan, Suriya, GV Prakash Kumar, Khushbu Sundar, Karthi.
They publicly condemned piracy and expressed solidarity with Vijay and the makers. Fans too flooded social media with messages urging people not to watch leaked clips.
The film itself has a strong ensemble cast. Alongside Vijay, it features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, and Mamitha Baiju. Supporting roles include Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, and Priyamani.
The political thriller was originally ready to release on January 9. However, the release had to postpone after the Central Board of Film Certification failed to certify it in time. Now, the leak has added another layer of uncertainty.
