The makers of the Tamil film ‘Nooru Saami’ have officially revealed the character name of actress Swasika in the film. The production house Vijay Antony Film Corporation disclosed on Tuesday that Swasika, who plays the female lead, will be seen as a character called Selvi. The announcement was made three days ahead of the film’s theatrical release.

The announcement continues a steady rollout of character reveals by the production house in the days before release. On Monday, the makers had shared that actor Ajay Dishan plays a character called Bhaskar in the film, along with his first look poster.
About the film
‘Nooru Saami’ is directed by Sasi and features actor and music director Vijay Antony in the lead role. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on June 19, 2026.
Director Sasi confirmed that the story of ‘Nooru Saami’, which translates to ‘Hundred Gods’, is based on real-life incidents. The title has been taken from a popular song in the director’s earlier film ‘Pichaikkaran’.
Sasi confirmed to IANS that the story will be based on the bond between a mother and her son. He also clarified that ‘Nooru Saami’ is not a continuation of ‘Pichaikkaran’. Both films are different stories with nothing to do with each other.
Shooting for the film wrapped in February this year. Vijay Antony had shared an update on ‘Nooru Saami’ in November last year by posting a picture from the sets on X, confirming the final schedule of shooting.

The Vijay Antony and Sasi reunion
Director Sasi’s earlier film ‘Pichaikkaran’, which featured Vijay Antony in the lead, became a blockbuster and went on to earn cult classic status. The story followed a wealthy businessman who secretly lives as a beggar for 48 days as part of a vow made to God to save his mother’s life. The film was based on a real-life incident and connected with audiences across Tamil Nadu and beyond.
Sasi had officially announced his return with Vijay Antony at the trailer launch of director Leo John Paul’s ‘Maargan’. ‘Nooru Saami’ marks their first collaboration since ‘Pichaikkaran’ in 2016.
Who is Swasika?
Swasika’s real name is Pooja Vijay. She is primarily popular for her work in Malayalam films and television, with a growing footprint in Tamil cinema.
In 2019, Swasika took on the title role in ‘Vasanthi’, which premiered at the 2021 International Film Festival of Kerala. She won the Best Character Actor (Female) award at the 50th Kerala State Film Awards for that performance.
Swasika earned national attention and a 70th Filmfare Awards South nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her work in ‘Lubber Pandhu’ in 2024. At the Filmfare Awards South 2026, she won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female) award for the same film, sharing the honour with Parvathy for ‘Thangalaan’.

Lijomol Jose plays the female lead opposite Vijay Antony. Ajay Dhishan, who is Vijay Antony’s nephew and previously drew attention in ‘Maargan’, plays the second lead as Bhaskar.
