The Tamil film industry is mourning the untimely death of veteran stuntman Mohan Raj (also, Raju), who tragically lost his life while performing a car stunt for the upcoming film ‘Vettuvam’ in Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu.
The film is being produced by director Pa Ranjith’s production house, Neelam Productions.
Mohan Raj, fondly called “Mohan Raj Anna” by his colleagues, was a seasoned stunt performer with decades of experience.
Neelam Productions released a statement on social media, expressing profound grief over the incident. Pa Ranjith also shared the message on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

“Our hearts are broken,” the statement read. “On July 13th morning, during the shoot of ‘Vettuvam’ in Nagapattinam, we lost Mohan Raj Anna, a veteran stunt artist and a long-time colleague. His passing has left all of us in shock. We are devastated for his wife, children, family, and everyone who loved him.”

The production house recalled that the day had begun with careful planning and attention to detail. Safety was at the forefront, and the crew had worked under the guidance of stunt director Dilip Subbarayan. They had followed every safety protocol to ensure the stunt went smoothly. Yet, despite these efforts, the accident took place, leaving the crew shattered.
“Mohan Raj was not just a stuntman; he was a mentor, a friend, and someone everyone looked up to. His work ethic, discipline, and clarity during action sequences made him a pillar of the stunt team. Losing someone of his calibre, despite the rigorous safety measures, is deeply painful,” the statement added.
Neelam Productions acknowledged Mohan Raj’s immense contribution to Tamil cinema. For years, he had been the go-to stunt professional for risky action sequences, known for his precision and professionalism.
“He wanted to be remembered for his work as a fabulous stunt artist, and that’s exactly how he will live on in our hearts,” the production house said.
Colleagues and fans alike have taken to social media to pay tribute to Mohan Raj, remembering him as a dedicated artist who put his heart and soul into his craft.
