Samantha closed her note with a message for young people. She said life can be bigger than the dream a person starts with. She tagged the official Tamil Nadu government handle in her post.

Vijay’s political rise

Vijay was sworn in as the 13th Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on May 10. His swearing-in marked a major shift in the state’s politics. It ended decades of control by the DMK and AIADMK parties.

Vijay described his government as the start of a new era. He spoke of real, secular and social justice as guiding principles. His transition from actor to Chief Minister has been called one of the most dramatic political shifts in the state’s recent history.

Before entering electoral politics, Vijay built a large fan base through his film career. He later formed his own political party and contested the Tamil Nadu assembly elections. His win brought an end to the long-standing two-party dominance in the state.

Their film history

Samantha and Vijay worked together on three successful films. Their first film together was ‘Kaththi’ in 2014, directed by AR Murugadoss. The film was a commercial success.

They reunited for ‘Theri’ in 2016, directed by Atlee. The film performed well at the box office. Their third collaboration was ‘Mersal’ in 2017, also directed by Atlee. ‘Mersal’ became one of the biggest hits of Vijay’s career.

The three films built a strong on-screen pairing between the two actors.
