Malayalam filmmaker Ranjith, already facing serious sexual harassment allegations, has now been granted bail. The decision has only added more chatter, more questions, more raised eyebrows.
The case involving a young actor and allegations linked to a film shoot has become one of the most talked-about controversies. While court has allowed bail, mood around the development is far from celebratory. Many are questioning whether this sends right message when the investigation is still ongoing.

Bail granted with strict conditions
Ernakulam First Class Magistrate Court granted bail to Ranjith but not without setting conditions. Court made it clear that these rules are meant to ensure investigation remains fair and untouched by outside influence.
The order specifically aims to prevent any interference with witnesses and protect the integrity of the probe.
The decision came after hearing arguments from both sides. Prosecution strongly opposed bail, arguing that releasing Ranjith could affect witnesses and potentially complicate the investigation.
They also claimed that he had not fully cooperated with authorities so far.
Prosecution raises red flags
The prosecution did not hold back. They warned the court that letting Ranjith walk free could create pressure on those involved in the case.
According to them, protecting the investigation from influence is critical, especially given the sensitivity of the allegations.
They also highlighted concerns about cooperation, suggesting that the accused had not been fully supportive during the probe.
The prosecution repeatedly stressed that ensuring a safe environment for witnesses must be the top priority.
Ranjith denies allegations
Ranjith, on his part, denied all wrongdoing. He told the court he would not interfere with witnesses and claimed he is willing to cooperate with the investigation. He also argued that refusing to confess does not mean he is not cooperating.
Still, his defence has not convinced many observers. Critics say denying allegations is expected, but the focus should remain on allowing the investigation to proceed without any pressure or influence.
For now, although bail has been granted, the case is far from over.
