At the grand trailer and audio launch of his new film ‘Coolie’, superstar Rajinikanth did more than just promote the movie. He took the audience down memory lane with stories from his past that touched many hearts.

Standing on stage with his trademark smile, Rajinikanth shared a deeply personal moment from his younger days. Long before he became the much-loved ‘Thalaiva’ of Indian cinema, he worked various odd jobs to survive.

One of those jobs was as a coolie, someone who carries people’s luggage for a small fee.

He recalled a particular day that still brings emotion to his voice. “I was working as a coolie, and a man asked me to load his luggage into a tempo. He gave me two rupees for the work. But what shook me was his voice. it sounded familiar,” Rajinikanth said, pausing briefly before continuing. “I looked closely and realised it was one of my old college friends. I used to tease him a lot back then. And now, he looked at me and said, ‘What a show you put on.’ That hit me hard. That was the first time in my life I broke down and cried.”

He didn’t stop there. Rajinikanth also had the audience laughing when he recalled a light-hearted conversation with actor Nagarjuna about hair loss. “

We were talking about growing old and losing hair. Nagarjuna and I joked about how our looks have changed. It’s funny how time flies,” he said with a grin.

Another moment that stood out during the event was Rajinikanth talking about director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is helming ‘Coolie’. He remembered meeting Lokesh for the first time and instantly admiring his passion for filmmaking.

“The way he spoke about movies and his ideas impressed me. I knew I wanted to work with him,” Rajinikanth said.
