Sivakarthikeyan’s latest film, ‘Parasakthi’, decided to stir more drama outside the theatre than on the screen. The Tamil Nadu Youth Congress has jumped into action, demanding a ban on the Tamil film ‘Parasakthi’. On Tuesday, the party accused the makers of the film of twisting history and targeting the Indian National Congress (INC) and its leaders in a bad light.

According to the Youth Congress, the film does not just tell a political story but allegedly spreads false information and “fabricated facts” that could mislead audiences.

CBFC trouble makes things worse

This protest comes at a time when ‘Parasakthi’ is already dealing with problems related to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The film reportedly faced multiple censorship hurdles before finally hitting theatres.

So, just days after its release, the movie is once again under the spotlight but not for box office numbers or performances.

Arun Bhaskar, the state senior vice president of the Tamil Nadu Youth Congress, issued a sharp statement against the film. He claimed the movie was made with the intention of spreading misinformation about the Congress party and its past leaders.

The statement said the film presents imaginary events as real history, which the party finds unacceptable.

Hindi imposition claim called “completely false”

One of the biggest objections raised by the Youth Congress is about a scene set in 1965. The film allegedly shows that the Congress government forced people across India to fill Post Office forms only in Hindi.

The party strongly denied this claim, calling it a complete fabrication created only to damage the Congress party’s image.

Indira Gandhi portrayal in ‘Parasakthi’ sparks anger

Another major issue is the portrayal of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The Youth Congress objected to a scene where Sivakarthikeyan’s character meets Indira Gandhi and the film allegedly presents her in a negative, villain-like manner.

The party also rejected scenes that show Indira Gandhi visiting Coimbatore on February 12, 1965, witnessing a train being set on fire, and accepting petitions against Hindi imposition.

According to the Youth Congress, none of these events actually happened.

Even end credits under fire

The anger doesn’t stop with the story. The Youth Congress also took issue with scenes shown during the end credits, once again accusing the makers of showing fictional meetings and dialogues involving Indira Gandhi.

They insist that these scenes are based purely on imagination, not facts.

Calling the film a product of “fabricated imagination,” the Youth Congress demanded that the controversial scenes be removed immediately. They also asked the production team to issue a public apology.
