Director B.V. Nandini Reddy has spoken about Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s pregnancy for the first time, calling the timing fitting given the success of their film Maa Inti Bangaaram. The film, which released on June 19, 2026, has collected over Rs 43 crore at the worldwide box office in its opening weekend.
Speaking to Cinema Express, Nandini Reddy confirmed the news and said, “Her pregnancy comes at a beautiful time, as our film Maa Inti Bangaaram has become a success.”
The statement marks the first public confirmation of Samantha’s pregnancy from someone closely associated with the actress. The director also mentioned that Samantha’s decision to attend the success event despite the ongoing speculation was a conscious choice.
How the rumours started
Pregnancy rumours began circulating after videos and photographs from the success celebrations of Maa Inti Bangaaram surfaced online. In the video, she is seen alongside her husband, wearing a fitted light blue T-shirt and denims, where her baby bump was visible. Fans speculated that she was expecting her first child.
A few pages reported that the actress is currently in her first trimester. “It’s a very special phase for Samantha and Raj. They are both extremely excited and have been spending a lot of quality time together as they prepare for this new journey,” a source told the publication.
Samantha’s pregnancy was also confirmed by her spokesperson to some media portals. The spokesperson said that she is due in December 2026.
Samantha and Raj’s personal life
Samantha married Raj Nidimoru in December 2025 in a private ceremony attended by close family members and friends. The wedding took place at the Linga Bhairavi Temple within Sadhguru’s Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore. Samantha simply captioned photographs from the ceremony with the date, “01.12.2025,” followed by white heart emojis.
Raj was previously married to Shhyamali De, while Samantha was earlier married to actor Naga Chaitanya. According to reports, Samantha and Raj first grew close while collaborating on The Family Man 2, the acclaimed series in which the actress played Raji. The two later reunited professionally on Citadel: Honey Bunny in 2024.
