Fans of Nandamuri Balakrishna were eagerly preparing for the grand release date of ‘Akhanda 2: Thaandavam’. But the excitement has come to a sudden halt. The makers of director Boyapeti Sreenu’s action-packed entertainer announced that the film will not release on December 5 as planned.
Taking to their official X account, 14 Reels Plus, the production house behind the film, shared a message: “With a heavy heart, we regret to inform you that #Akhanda2 will not be releasing as scheduled due to unavoidable circumstances. We truly understand the disappointment it brings to every fan and movie lover awaiting the film.”
They added that they are working hard to resolve the issues and promised to update fans with positive news soon while also apologising for the inconvenience.

Premiere shows cancelled
The postponement came as a surprise especially since the production house had already cancelled the premiere shows in India just a day before the scheduled release.
Their statement read: “Akhanda2 Premieres in India scheduled for today are cancelled due to technical issues. We’ve tried our best, but a few things are beyond our control. Sorry for the inconvenience. Overseas premieres will continue as planned.”
While disappointing for fans in India, the overseas audience still got to enjoy the premieres on schedule.
Censor clearance and expectations
Despite the delay, the film had already cleared censor formalities and received a U/A certificate. According to IANS, the movie has a runtime of 166 minutes (2 hours and 44 minutes).
The postponement has only built up more curiosity, as ‘Akhanda 2’ was already creating waves with its teasers and trailer.

The newly released teaser trailer has further heightened anticipation. In it, the film shows enemies plotting against India, while Balakrishna, dressed as a sadhu, delivers a dialogue: “Where there is a bad, parallely, there is a God! Be brave.”

Produced on a grand scale, the project is presented by M Tejaswini Nandamuri and produced by Raam Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner. The film combines elements of patriotism, action, mysticism.
