MK Stalin honors ‘Nadigar Thilagam’ Sivaji Ganesan on birth anniversary

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin paid tribute to actor Sivaji Ganesan on the latter’s 98th birth anniversary today.

One of India’s greatest actors, Sivaji Ganesan created an indelible impression in Tamil cinema. His long career spanned four decades, and he worked in 250 films.

CM Stalin went to a memorial to pay his respects, placing flower petals on a picture of the actor in a frame.

Sharing his sentiments on social media, Stalin recalled the actor as the “Actor Excellency”. He underlined the actor’s unparalleled talent and the lasting impact he made on audiences.

“On his birth day anniversary, I pay homage to the actor Sivaji Ganesan, the ‘Actor Excellency,’ who struck the whole world with his acting skill and continues to live as history, imprinted in the hearts of the people forever,” CM Stalin posted on his X handle.

The Chief Minister also took a trip down memory lane and posted some vintage pictures of the actor along with some iconic scenes from his films.

Sivaji Ganesan, who was born on October 1, 1928, in Villupuram in the erstwhile South Arcot district of Tamil Nadu, was awarded the title Nadigar Thilagam, or “Pride of Actors,” for his incredible versatility and capability of acting a variety of roles.

His classic films, such as ‘Veerapandiya Kattabomman’, ‘Parasakthi’, ‘Karnan’, and ‘Thevar Magan’, are still an inspiration to generations of actors and moviegoers as well.

He died on July 21, 2001, from long-standing heart and respiratory issues.
