Fans, sit tight, because Kollywood just dropped a reunion bomb and it’s spicy! After years of waiting, ‘Makkal Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi is teaming up again with master storyteller Mani Ratnam. Yes, the duo that gave us intense drama earlier is ready to cook something totally new. And guess what? Sethupathi himself confirmed the news, so this isn’t just industry gossip anymore.
The actor last worked with director Mani Ratnam in the 2018 action crime thriller ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’. Now, he has revealed that their new project will be completely different from their earlier collaboration. No repeats, no safe formulas. Just something fresh and unpredictable.

“Repetition is death for me,” says Vijay Sethupathi
Talking to Variety India, Vijay Sethupathi shared that he hates repeating himself on screen. He boldly said he will never do sequels or remakes.
According to him, art connects the world and he just wants to be a small part of that creative journey. He also admitted he doesn’t plan his career or performances. Instead, he prefers to go with the flow and fully live the character.
The actor added that becoming someone else on screen is not easy. He still remembers the young struggler who entered films just to stand before the camera and deliver dialogues. Even today, that excitement remains the same for him whenever the camera rolls.
Sai Pallavi joins as female lead
The film will star Sai Pallavi as the female lead. She is already busy with big projects like ‘Ek Din’ with Junaid Khan, and the grand mythological film ‘Ramayana’ alongside Ranbir Kapoor.
Before this reunion buzz, Sethupathi appeared in ‘Gandhi Talks’, which featured Arvind Swamy, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Siddharth Jadhav in key roles. The music for the film was composed by maestro AR Rahman.
