The long-awaited ‘Jana Nayagan’ has once again hit a roadblock, and it’s not just about the censor board. Veteran filmmaker SA Chandrasekhar, Vijay’s father, has finally spoken out, linking the postponements to the actor’s new political journey.
In a candid chat with the media, Chandrasekhar didn’t hold back. “The people know what happened in Karur. Vijay is not afraid of anything. His chances of success are bright,” he said hinting at the political turbulence surrounding the star.
He added that it’s normal for newcomers in politics to face hurdles, and Vijay is no exception. “He will face any number of obstacles,” the filmmaker said insisting that the reasons behind ‘Jana Nayagan’’s delay are already clear to the public.
Chandrasekhar also pointed out a fascinating side effect of Vijay entering politics. “After Vijay entered politics, young people and women are discussing politics. They are more articulate than me,” he remarked.
Legal hurdles keep fans waiting
While fans were hoping for a Pongal release, a recent legal setback has thrown another spanner in the works.
The Madras High Court recently overturned a single judge’s order that had directed the grant of a censor certificate to the film.
The court noted that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) hadn’t been given enough time to file its counter before the earlier order was passed.
The upshot? No theatrical release until the CBFC clears it, and a fresh hearing is now scheduled at the Madras High Court.
With this, the release timeline has become murkier than ever.
Alongside Vijay, the film features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju in pivotal roles.
For now, fans are left speculating: will ‘Jana Nayagan’ make it to theatres soon.
