The film’s journey began months ago when it was simply known as #NSS2. But the title ‘Dies Irae’ has already captured attention. At the heart of the story is Pranav Mohanlal, playing the only son in a family rumored to be cursed by their neighbors.

The recently released trailer sets a chilling tone opening with an aged woman confronting a man about a child he should have protected. Her words “And now didn’t that feeling turn out to be true?” leave a haunting echo.

The trailer hints at eerie unexplained happenings around Pranav’s character. Despite witnessing strange and frightening events, he finds himself unable to share his fears. No one believes him and the family’s dark past only deepens the mystery. The story draws inspiration from real-life incidents making the suspense all the more intense.

Fans of Malayalam cinema are particularly excited because of the team behind ‘Dies Irae’. The film is produced by the same creative minds who delivered the cult hit ‘Brammayugam’, a period horror movie starring superstar Mammootty.

Shehnad Jalal, known for his exceptional camera work in ‘Brammayugam’, returns to handle the cinematography. Jothish Shankar oversees art direction. Editing is done by Shafique Mohammed Ali, who also edited ‘Brammayugam’.

Production of ‘Dies Irae’ was impressively swift. Shooting began in the last week of March 2025 at Vadakara in Calicut. The team wrapped filming by April well ahead of their planned 40-day schedule.
