The world of Baahubali is not slowing down, it is spreading its wings again, and this time it is flying straight into France. Fans who thought they had seen all the magic of Mahishmati are now getting a fresh surprise. ‘Baahubali: The Eternal War’, the animated chapter of the blockbuster universe, has landed a proud spot at one of the biggest animation events in the world. And, both SS Rajamouli and Prabhas are clearly thrilled about it.

Baahubali universe enters global animation stage

The animated film ‘Baahubali: The Eternal War’ has been officially selected for the Annecy Film Festival 2026 in France.

The festival will take place from June 21 to June 27 this year.

The project has been chosen for the “Work in Progress” segment, which highlights films still under production and gives a rare look at how they are being built.

Prabhas celebrates with excited Instagram post

Prabhas, who played Amarendra Baahubali and Mahendra Baahubali in the live-action films, shared his happiness with fans on Instagram. He posted a short clip from the animated film and expressed how proud he felt seeing the Baahubali world reach a global stage like Annecy.

In his message, he congratulated producer Shobu Yarlagadda, director Ishan Shukla, and the entire team. He also celebrated the moment with a powerful “Jai Maahishmati!” while tagging the festival’s official page.

SS Rajamouli calls animation a boundless canvas

SS Rajamouli, the creator of the Baahubali universe, also shared his excitement on social media.

He said animation has always felt like a medium without limits, where imagination can run free. He expressed pride that ‘Baahubali: The Eternal War’ has made it to the Work in Progress lineup at Annecy 2026.

Rajamouli praised producer Shobu Yarlagadda, director Ishan Shukla, and the entire team. He said they are eager to present their vision on one of the world’s biggest animation stages.

Annecy Festival opens door to global creative process

The organisers of the Annecy Film Festival explained that the “Work in Progress” category shows how films and projects come about step by step.

These sessions give audiences a rare chance to understand the creative process, see different production stages, and interact with the teams behind the projects.

This year, the category has selected 12 feature films, three series, and one immersive project from 10 different countries.
