Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Deepika starrer Padmavati‘s trailer released on Monday (October 9), and it has already crossed 20 million views. The film has set a fresh record of making the fastest views ever, in a mere 24 hours.

The Sanjay Leena Bhansali magnum opus got a whopping 15 million views in the first 24 hours of its release, meanwhile, Hollywood film Justice League’s trailer, which released on the same day did 13 million views.

Padmavati has already got thumbs-up, not just from the fans; but the film fraternity has also been pouring in words of appreciation for the cast.

Overwhelmed by the record and the attention that the first trailer of Padmavati has got, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh thanked fans and shared their excitement on social networking sites.

Ranveer Singh took to Instagram to share his excitement on setting a record. He wrote, “Although this film, for me, is beyond numbers..this is a pretty amazing record! Congrats to the team! #PadmavatiTrailer @filmpadmavati.”

The trailer was released on Monday (October 9) at 13:03 pm in sync with the timeline of the film, which is set in the year 1303. It has already aroused interest as the movie buffs are now eagerly waiting for its release.

The trailer which crossed 150k views in less than two hours, showcases the three central characters of the film— Rani Padmini (Deepika Padukone), Rawal Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) and Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh). Although we have seen Ranveer Singh and Deepika don similar characters in Bajirao Mastani, it would be a treat to watch Shahid Kapoor play a ruler.

Ranveer’s character of Alauddin Khilji swept us off our feet, as he would play an antagonist in the film, and his appearance makes it more intriguing.

2017 has been quite a disappointment at the box office, with big releases not being able to mint much money. However, movies releasing this winter look quite more promising and Bhansali’s period drama might just mark a perfect closing to the year.

Padmavati is slated to release worldwide on December 1.
