Netflix has dropped the trailer for its new spy thriller ‘Saare Jahan Se Accha’, and it’s already creating a buzz.

Set in the high-tension 1970s, the show follows an undercover mission deep inside enemy territory, where national security is at risk and every wrong step could spark a global crisis.

The story revolves around Vishnu Shankar, a Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW) agent played by Pratik Gandhi, who is sent on a dangerous mission to Pakistan. His target: stop a looming disaster.

But with the Pakistan intelligence agency ISI on his heels, led by the sharp and determined Murtaza Mallik (played by Sunny Hinduja), the mission quickly turns into a deadly game of wit and strategy.

The trailer paints a tense picture of espionage, deception, and loyalty. Vishnu, who must keep his identity a secret, operates in silence while constantly putting his life at risk. He’s not just fighting for survival, he’s fighting for his country, without any recognition or glory.

Talking about his character, Pratik Gandhi said, “Vishnu lives in the shadows. He has no room for mistakes. What interested me most was how he manages the emotional weight of his job while appearing completely calm. I can’t wait for people to step into his world.”

On the other side is Sunny Hinduja’s Murtaza; calm, precise, and fiercely patriotic. He’s not just a villain, but a mirror image of Vishnu in many ways.

“This story is not about good vs evil,” Sunny explained. “Murtaza is in his mission, just like Vishnu. Our characters are locked in a mental battle where every move counts. It’s a fight of the mind more than muscle.”

Set during the Cold War era, the show brings viewers back to a time when the smallest intelligence leak could lead to a nuclear face-off.

The show is a creation of Gaurav Shukla and production of Bombay Fables, with Bhavesh Mandalia serving as the creative producer. Alongside Pratik Gandhi and Sunny Hinduja, the cast includes Suhail Nayyar, Kritika Kamra, Tillotama Shome, Rajat Kapoor, and Anup Soni.

‘Saare Jahan Se Accha’ premieres on Netflix on August 13, just ahead of India’s Independence Day.
