Horror fans no longer need a theatre ticket. ‘Obsession’, one of 2026’s biggest breakout hits, has landed on OTT platforms.
Where to watch
The film is now available to buy or rent on Prime Video and Apple TV. Buying it costs $24.99. Renting is cheaper at $19.99.
So if you missed it in theatres, you can now catch it from your couch.
From theatres to a box office phenomenon
Obsession hit theatres on May 15 through Focus Features. Nobody expected what happened next.
The film has crossed $370 million worldwide at the box office. That number makes it Focus Features’ highest grossing movie ever. For a horror film with a modest budget, that is a massive result.
Horror movies rarely get this kind of reception from both audiences and critics at once. Obsession managed exactly that. It earned an A- grade on CinemaScore, which tracks audience reactions right after screenings. It also holds a 94 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes, a rare number for the genre.
The mind behind it
What makes this story even more interesting is who made the film. Curry Barker, the writer and director, is only 20 years old. He built his following on YouTube before stepping into feature filmmaking.
Obsession marks his breakout moment. A young YouTuber turning a low-budget horror concept into a global hit is not something that happens often in this industry.
About the film
The story follows a character named Bear, played by Michael Johnston. He is a hopeless romantic who stumbles onto something called the One Wish Willow, a mysterious object with strange powers.
Bear uses it for something simple at first. He wants his crush to fall for him.
That wish works. But it does not stay simple for long.
Nikki, played by Inde Navarrette, becomes his crush who falls under the wish’s spell. Her feelings do not stay normal or healthy. She grows dangerously obsessed with Bear, and the story shifts from a sweet fantasy into something much darker and more disturbing.
The cast
Besides Johnston and Navarrette in the lead roles, the film features Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter in supporting parts.
