Apple TV has ordered a new thriller series, and Julia Garner will lead it. The show is called ‘Guilty Creatures’, based on the true crime book of the same name written by Mikita Brottman.

Garner will both star in and executive produce the series. She is a three time Emmy winner and Golden Globe winner, best known for her role as Ruth Langmore in Netflix’s Ozark.

What ‘Guilty Creatures’ is about

The series is based on the book ‘Guilty Creatures: Sex, God, and Murder’ in Tallahassee, Florida. It is set in the Florida panhandle and follows a real life story involving a torrid romance and a murder.

According to the official description, the show delves into the psyche of two young lovers. Their relationship was adulterous, yet both were described as God fearing. Their affair eventually led to murder. The series will unravel their complex lives and the emotional toll of living as killers for 18 years.

Garner’s growing slate of projects

This new series adds to an already packed schedule for Garner. She recently wrapped filming on The Altruists, a Netflix limited series about the rise and fall of the FTX cryptocurrency exchange, where she plays Caroline Ellison. She also executive produces that project.

Her recent film work includes playing the Silver Surfer in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: First Steps, along with a role in Weapons, a horror thriller from director Zach Cregger that became one of last year’s biggest hits.

Garner is currently filming Tyrant, an Amazon MGM Studios film opposite Charlize Theron, directed by David Weil. She is also set to appear in the upcoming season of Apple TV’s The Studio.

Earlier in her career, Garner earned an Emmy nomination for playing convicted fraudster Anna Delvey in the Netflix limited series Inventing Anna. Her other television credits include The Get Down, Maniac, and Dirty John.
