It was a memorable time and experience for Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra as he travelled across the seas and made his mark in three countries with his remarkable work.
Mehra toured three countries, promoting his national award winning film, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, to the German-speaking countries of Europe. He touched Vienna in Austria, Zurich in Switzerland and Munich, Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Berlin in Germany.
The filmmaker, who is busy in the post-production of his first love story, took some time out to be a part of this. And as expected, he sure had a lovely experience of soaking in the rich art and culture of the places.
"It was absolutely amazing to see that after three years of the film releasing in India, the film released in German speaking cities of Europe. Majority of the audience present in the theaters were Europeans and they identified with the film exactly the way Indians did,” Mehra said.
Austria is home to Mozart and European art and culture. Promoting his film there was a dream-come-true for Mehra. Very few films get a chance to promote and release there.
“The interaction with the audience post every screening was extremely enriching and they termed the film as the New Age Cinema from India and not Bollywood," he said.
As Bhaag Milkha Bhaag was such a game changer, the film has been getting wider releases across the globe.
