JK Rowling made a little girl’s belief in magic even stronger with a tweet. She gave the greatest gift to a Jammu and Kashmir girl in response to her heartwarming essay. The Harry Potter author got to know about this young fangirl through Twitter when a teacher posted an essay written by 12-year-old Kulsum.

On 26 April, Kulsum Bano Bhat posted a picture of her essay where she expressed her admiration for J K Rowling. The essay read, “I am not inspired by JK Rowling only because she writes well but also because she has faced many difficulties but didn’t give up.”

The director of the school, Sabbah Haji then retweeted it and tagged Rowling on the post inviting her to visit the school to meet Kulsum. The tweet read, “A first generation English learner from the Himalayas would like to meet you someday. So come visit us at #HajiPublicSchool.”

To everyone’s surprise, Rowling actually replied to the tweet enquiring about Kulsum’s full name. The author even said she wanted to send something to Kulsum.

According to a report published in The Indian Express, Kulsum is overwhelmed to know about Rowling’s tweet. She said, “Sabbah ma’am told me that JK Rowling had seen my essay and that she had replied. I am so happy. If I get to meet J K Rowling, I will tell her she is wonderful.”

Kulsum revealed that Chamber of Secrets is her favourite book among the Harry Potter series. Further talking about the books, she said, “Hermoine is my favourite character, she is intelligent, If there was one spell I could do, it would be Wingardium Leviosa (the levitation charm)”.

Kulsum, who wants to be a poet or a writer someday, said JK Rowling was her inspiration. “(Rowling’s) books make me happy. Whenever something makes me upset, I immerse myself in the wizard world and it always makes me feel better, reading about her life gave me confidence that whenever we are in trouble, we can get up and be better again, just like she did in her life.”

Kulsum is the daughter of a farmer couple in Breswana. She has two siblings. Kulsum attends the Haji public school in Doda with her younger brother.
