Actor Hugh Jackman now has a Guinness World Record to his name for having the “longest career as a live-action Marvel superhero”. The 50-year-old actor, who has been playing the role of Wolverine for over a decade now, said receiving the honour was a dream come true for him.
On Wednesday, Hugh received the honour during a surprise presentation on British TV show, This Morning.
“When I was a kid, the Guinness Book of Records was it… That’s it, I’ve made it! This is why I got into showbiz, thank you,” the actor said.
The X Men actor shares the title with his co-star Sir Patrick Stewart, who has played the character of Professor Charles Xavier for the same duration. Both actors have essayed their respective roles for 16 years and 228 days.
Earlier, during a radio interview, Hugh shared how he kept making attempts to land in the record books.
“My dream as a kid, both my brother and I, was to be in the Guinness Book of Records one day. We tried to stay up and play badminton for 48 hours, we tried to flip coins off our elbow, and I just realised maybe I’m there now, I don’t know,” he said.
The Emmy and a Tony Award-winning actor started his career as a musical theatre star. Hugh Jackman landed his breakthrough role in Bryan Singer’s X men in 2000.
