Harvey Weinstein, the once-powerful Hollywood producer who is now serving time in jail, has decided to drop a lawsuit against his brother, Bob Weinstein.
According to a report by ‘Variety’, Harvey had earlier accused his brother of financial betrayal, claiming it led to the downfall of their production company, The Weinstein Company.
Harvey Weinstein is currently behind bars, awaiting sentencing after being convicted for sexual assault for the third time. His legal troubles, however, are not just about criminal cases. He is also involved in financial battles related to the collapse of his former business empire.
Back in February this year, Harvey filed a counterclaim in an old lawsuit. In it, he tried to shift the blame for the company’s failure onto his brother Bob and two other key employees; David Glasser, who was the Chief Operating Officer, and the company’s longtime accountant, Irwin Reiter.
Harvey’s claim said that Bob Weinstein and Glasser took millions of dollars in improper payments before the company went bankrupt. He also accused Reiter of failing to prevent this from happening.
This week, Harvey’s lawyers informed the court that they are dropping the case against Bob Weinstein. However, they are still continuing the legal fight against Glasser and Reiter.

Bob Weinstein’s attorney, Brian Kohn, released a statement. He said, “Harvey’s filing of this notice fully resolves the claims he asserted against Bob in this case.”
He also made it clear that Bob did not pay Harvey anything to settle the case and no deal was made between them.
The Weinstein Company, once a leading film production house, collapsed shortly after Harvey Weinstein was publicly accused of multiple cases of sexual assault and harassment in late 2017. These allegations shook Hollywood and started the global #MeToo movement.
After the scandal broke, Harvey was removed from the company. But the damage was already done. By 2018, The Weinstein Company declared bankruptcy. Later, its film library was sold to Lionsgate.
According to reports, Bob Weinstein had tried to save the company by lending it $11.1 million from his own pocket. However, he never got that money back, even during the company’s 2021 bankruptcy settlement.
Meanwhile, attorneys for Glasser and Reiter have also filed motions asking the court to dismiss the remaining claims against them.
