HBO’s record-breaking fantasy epic Game of Thrones won the coveted Best Drama Series prize at at Emmys, even as Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs Maisel bagged the Best Comedy series award.

Game of Thrones, whose eighth and final season arrives next year, beat last year’s winner The Handmaid’s Tale, which went home empty-handed. Other nominees for Best Drama Series were This Is Us, The Crown, Stranger Things, Westworld and The Americans.

The ceremony held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles was hosted by “Saturday Night Live” regulars Colin Jost and Michael Che. The show saw a number of edgy political jokes on issues such as diversity in Hollywood, #MeToo and President Donald Trump.
