Anne Hathaway just gave fans a big reason to smile! The actress, who won hearts as Andy Sachs in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ back in 2006, has now officially confirmed her return in the film’s much-anticipated sequel.

On Monday, Hathaway took to Instagram and dropped a first-look picture from ‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’. In the photo, she is looking effortlessly stylish, wearing a dark green suit paired with black shoes. She captioned the post, “Andy Sachs 2025 #dwp2.”

This exciting update comes just weeks after 20th Century Studios confirmed that the sequel is officially in production. The timing also matches up with a major shift in the real fashion world; Anna Wintour, long-time editor-in-chief of ‘Vogue’, recently announced her exit after nearly 40 years.

Fans of the original film will remember that Meryl Streep’s iconic character, Miranda Priestly, was heavily inspired by Wintour.

The first ‘Devil Wears Prada’ movie was based on Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling novel. It followed the journey of Andy Sachs, a young woman trying to make her way in New York’s competitive fashion world.

Working under Miranda Priestly, Andy experienced the highs and lows of the fashion industry and eventually chose to walk away from it to rediscover her own path.

The sequel promises to bring back not just Anne Hathaway, but also Meryl Streep as Miranda, along with Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt, who played fan-favorite roles in the first film.

According to reports by ‘Variety’, several new actors have joined the cast too. Kenneth Branagh, Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, and Pauline Chalamet are all part of the new film. However, their roles are still a mystery.

So, what will the sequel be about? While the makers are keeping the story under wraps for now, early reports suggest that Andy Sachs and Miranda Priestly will once again find themselves on opposite sides.

This time, the plot is expected to explore the decline of traditional fashion magazines in the age of digital media, a real challenge faced by the industry today.

Fans are especially curious to know what Andy has been up to since the first film ended. In the original, she quit her job at ‘Runway’ magazine and started working at a major New York newspaper. How will her story continue now?

‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ is ready to hit theatres on May 1, 2026.
