Remember that ‘Indian girl in Harry Potter‘? Actress Afshan Azad, who played the role Padma Patil in the fantasy film, tied the knot with fiance Nabil Kazi. On Sunday, the couple got married in a traditional Bangladeshi wedding and we witnessed a mini Harry Potter reunion at the event.
The 29-year-old actress took to Instagram and shared a few glimpses of her big day. Her co-stars, Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley, and Katie Leung, who played Cho Chang, turned up at the wedding. Bonnie Wright shared a picture from the wedding and wrote,“Over the moon to have been there with today Afshan. We love you so much! Congratulations to you and Nabil, wishing you so much joy in your married life together.”
Posting a similar picture, Katie Leung wrote, “Celebrating our beautiful bride @afshanazad‘s special day.”
On 21 August, Afshan shared a picture of herself and her to be husband walking down the aisle, with an emotional note. “Yesterday was the most epic night. My handsome husband and beautiful in-laws went above and beyond and blew me away with the most magical Walima party. Historically, the first wedding to EVER happen in this venue, it was absolutely breathtaking. My very own Royal Wedding! Thank you to everyone who helped put this night together. Here’s to a lifetime of Happiness with you my love — We did it,” the caption read.

Earlier, the actress gave an overview of her wedding on Instagram. Check out the pictures and videos here.
Planning a wedding on your own isn’t easy, but when you find the EXACT people to make your dreams a reality, things because that bit easier. Being from a fun and fab family I knew I wanted something quirky and outside the box to showcase my personality at my wedding. I always wanted cardboard cutouts of me and my husband so people could take fab snaps of them whilst I was busy on stage being a Bride – and look who I found. Not only did @rajeevshinh deliver, he bloody DELIVERED!! How alike do our cutouts look of us? The set up, advice cards, Snapchat filter and quote were all unreal! Can you guess what theme he went for with the menu and font? 🤭 Honestly the most talked about factor at my ultimate dream wedding. Thank you Rajeev, I gotta say we absolutely SMASHED IT! ❤️ #KazadWedding #DreamWedding #CardboardCutouts #WeddingGoals
Incredibly blessed. After a year of planning on my own, the tears and tantrums, today was an absolute dream. Married and moved out of Manchester to start my new life. Thank you to my incredible family and friends, without you I’m nothing. Best wedding ever, even if I do say so myself! Keep us in your prayers. ❤️👰🏻🤵🏻 #KazadWedding #RoyalWedding
On 28 May, another Harry Potter star Matthew Lewis, who essayed the role of Neville Longbottom, too got married to actor Angela Jones. He announced the news with an adorable post, which read: “Not only did I miss @ArcticMonkeys in LA but they were performing in Italy at the same time we were there and my wife made me get married instead. Fuming.”
