Comedian Manoj Prabakar has received backlash for making jokes on the South Indian superstar Mahesh Babu.

The stand-up comedian was targeted with abusive messages and threatened to face dire consequences if he did not apologize on stage.

This was followed by Telugu Movie Artist Association (MAA) sending a notice to the Nadigar Sanga in Chennai asking the film body to take appropriate action against Prabakar.

The video of the stand-up comedian from a year ago went viral on the internet recently, where he is seen making jokes on Mahesh Babu’s acting and lack of facial expressions. He compared the face of the actor to that of Katrina Kaif; ‘beautiful yet devoid of any expressions’.

He further added that when Mahesh Babu’s WhatsApp account was hacked, all that could be found were emojis with a single expression.

The fans of the Telugu star could not take the jokes and attacked Prabhakar on social media with hateful posts.

Following the hullabaloo, Manoj Prabakar issued an apology through a long Facebook post where he stated that the intention of the show was not to hurt anyone’s sentiments.
